About the Reef Manta Ray

The reef manta ray (Mobula alfredi), known in the Maldives as en madi, is one of the ocean's most graceful giants and among the most sought-after sights for divers in the archipelago. With a wingspan reaching up to around 4–4.5 metres, it glides through the water with slow, wing-like beats of its broad pectoral fins, often appearing to fly rather than swim.
