About this site

An oval-shaped pinnacle in Baa Atoll, sitting between Dharavandhoo, Anga Faru and Dhonfanu, with a top reef around 7–8 m dropping to 30 m. Its signature is a dramatic swim-through on the east side: divers enter at about 30 m and ascend through a narrow passage to emerge at 18 m in a sheltered interior pool where the current noticeably eases — a memorable transition from the exposed outer reef into the calm heart of the thila. A deep canyon falls to 25 m on the opposite side, with impressive overhangs at 27 m (east) and 20 m (north) sheltering resting marine life. Napoleon wrasse are the signature species, often approaching divers, while grey reef sharks patrol the edges and eagle rays glide past in the blue; big-eye jacks and barracuda circle the pinnacle, turtles rest in the overhangs, and fusiliers, snappers and anthias add colour. In the southwest monsoon (May–November) mantas may visit the cleaning station. Visibility usually runs 15–35 m, water 28–30°C; currents are moderate on the outer edges and calmer in the interior pool. The depth and the swim-through make it best for Advanced Open Water divers — clearest November to April, mantas May to November. Boat entry.
